The Flatirons Opera Company began with a passion for opera and the desire to perform it. Erin and Ben Clark, of Longmont, originated the company in order to bring opera back to Longmont and provide an avenue for talented young opera stars to perform.
In May of 2013, Flatirons Opera Company brought "a taste of opera" to the Dickens Opera House in Longmont which was greatly received. This first performance contained some of the highlights from Cosi fan tutte as well as recognizable arias from other popular operas by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and others.
Based upon the overwhelmingly positive response from our first efforts, we are very excited and working hard to bring an outstanding production of Mozart's IMPRESSARIO and Wolf-Ferrari's CENERENTOLA aka "CINDERELLA" to the Dickens Opera House on Sunday, February 9th.
As was a tradition in Mozart’s day, the audience is invited to come and enjoy a lunch and libations during the performance. The Dickens Tavern has a wide menu from which to choose, and their popular Sunday Brunch is also available. Reservations for tickets can be made by calling the Dickens Opera House at 303-834-9384.
OPERA IN THE COMMUNITY -
As a part of our community outreach program, Flatirons Opera Company produced an abridged version of Englebert Humperdink's opera Hansel & Gretel at the Longmont Library on October 12th. A capacity crowd of children and their parents enjoyed the audience participation as Hansel and Gretel traveled through the enchanted forest and out witted the witch.
